Natasha McDaniel
Kindergarten District Literacy Coach

[email protected]

My name is Natasha McDaniel, District Literacy Coach at Magrill. I discovered my passion for working with children through volunteering at my church’s summer camp in Ohio. This led me to study Early Childhood Education at Bowling Green State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education and Reading Specialization. While in college I learned about our university partnership with Aldine ISD for an opportunity to student teach in Texas. My first visit, I fell in love with the culture and diversity of Houston and moved to work in Aldine soon after graduation.

I began at Spence Elementary where I taught grades K-3, then supported teachers as K-2 Language Arts Skills Specialist. This is now my third year as District Literacy Coach and my passion, especially for literacy education, only continues to grow. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a Minor in Reading from Sam Houston State University. I look forward to supporting and advocating for students, families, teachers, and all of our Mustang community.

Pre-K & Kindergarten Bilingual Skills Specialist / Campus Key Communicator

Greetings! I am a native Texan and proud graduate of the University of Houston - Downtown. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish with hopes of building mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics. I went on to gain experience as an intern through the Office of Public Relations at St. Pius X Catholic High School while working for the Talent Search Department of the University of Houston - Downtown, as an advisor for intermediate and high school students of Aldine ISD. It was then that I realized I belonged in the field of Education because advocacy for post-secondary education begins at the primary level.

Soon thereafter I became a certified teacher through Texas Teachers and began my work as a bilingual educator at Orange Grove Elementary. I have dedicated 7 years of my life teaching 1st grade and 2nd grade students, and another 3 years as a K-4th grade Bilingual Skills Specialist, Writing Skills Specialist, and Dyslexia Interventionist at Magrill Elementary--now Magrill EC/PK/K School.

My passion for healthy interpersonal relationships and communication is something I live for and practice daily in working with your children and my peers as I fulfill my roles on campus.  When not at work I enjoy attending local events with family and friends in addition to spending quality time with my husband and two dynamic children.

La comunicación es la clave de cualquier éxito. Como su especialista bilingüe, ¡espero con ansias saber como mejor servir a nuestra comunidad!

I began my teaching journey in South Texas where I graduated from University of Texas Pan American with Majors in English, Psychology, and Sociology. I taught 9th and 11th grade English in Harlingen ISD, where I quickly realized that a lot of my students were struggling readers. I then decided to move my teaching focus to Kindergarten. I taught Kindergarten in private school and then came to Magrill in 2006. I became a Specialist in Dyslexia in 2009 and believe it is never too early to intervene in Reading!! I look forward to working with you and your children.
